After the Google Play Edition failed, Google worked with developers to create a new line of "clean Android" devices - Android One. Removing bloatware is just one of the goals. The phone differs from the Play Edition models in many other ways.
As the name suggests, we want to focus on one particular branch - the four models released by Xiaomi - and what their ultimate destiny will be. Program One still exists, mostly launched by Nokia, but Google has gone through other ways to try to achieve its original goals.
These goals, if you don't remember, create a number of cheap devices for new brands. Android One is designed to run on systems with minimal RAM and save as much battery as possible. The first One phones were built on a common platform and released in 2014. Later models offer different hardware.

Xiaomi was a little late for the party - his first offer, the Xiaomi Mi A1, came out at the end of 2017. However, it will be the first Android One device to be available worldwide (in 37 markets). The same hardware is also available as the Mi 5X in China, which runs standard MIUI software from Xiaomi.

The Mi A1 version comes with Android 7.1 Nougat. This is usually pure Android, although Google allows you to pre-install some developer applications, unlike the more stringent Play Edition phones. Android One phones can also be sold through the manufacturer's regular retail channels, while others are banned from the Google Play Store (much of why they fail). Well, high prices didn't help either. Despite what its alternative name suggests, the Mi A1 is not exactly the same as its Mi 5 series counterparts, which have basic hardware.
It has a decent 5.5 "1080p display, IPS LCD panel (Mi 5 has a 5.15" display). It's a good display with high contrast and not very good color rendering. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3, while the chassis is made of aluminum.

The phone is powered by Snapdragon 625, a 14nm chip known for its efficiency. Not much faster than the eight Cortex-A53 (2.0 GHz) and Adreno 506 CPU cores, but it can do its job. It is paired with 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB storage (eMMC 5.1) and a microSD slot.

As we mentioned, one of the design goals for Android One is to run on cheap devices with low RAM, although the Mi A1 is not one of them. However, it tries to attract buyers who like hardware and the Xiaomi award, but not MIUI fans.
The phone even has a dual camera with a 12MP main module (1 / 2.9 ”sensor, 1.25µm pixels) and a 12MP telephoto lens (2x magnification, 50 mm). The main camera may include 4K video to 30 FPS, something even some guards do.
